- You must click yes to accept the security certificate after you click the login button.
- From the system menu click Spam Filtering.
- From the Spam Filtering configuration screen you can manage your Allowed Sender List, Blocked Sender List and Configure Spam Options. Read on for an explanation of each feature.
Allowed Sender List -- Email addressess listed on your whitelist are automatically allowed and will not be classified as spam. It is recommended that you add all of your known contacts to your whitelist
Blocked Sender List -- Email addresses listed on your blacklist will be automatically blocked. If you do not wish to receive email from someone you should place thier email address on your blacklist.
Spam Tolerance Level -- The spam filter assigns point values to certain words and phrases. If you are receiving a large amount of spam you might want to consider lowering this value (the default system value for all users is 5). Try to lower it one point at a time...if you lower the threshold to much you will start to quarantine legitimate emails
When Spam Is Identified:
- Deliver spam email to my inbox -- Let the spam be passed in to your email inbox with no changes to the message whatsoever.
- Move spam email to my blocked folder -- All mail that is classified as spam will be moved to a blocked folder. If you choose to use this option you must log in to the webmail interface to check your blocked folder.
- Delete spam email -- This option is not recommended. This will automatically delete all messages that are classified as spam without user intervention.
- Add text to the beginning of the subject -- This option will modify the subject line on all messages that are classified as spam. This is probably the most convienant option. By modifying the subject line of the email message you can easily filter out unwanted or questionable emails using the rules wizard in your email client. For details on configuring the rules wizard in Outlook Express click here.
- Deliver spam as an attachment -- Selecting this option will deliver a message to your inbox with the email classified as spam as an attachment. The reason for this is often times spammers embed images in their HTML emails. Once you open the spam message and the image loads your email address has been verified by the spammer and you will begin to receive more and more spam messages.
