The Access 1 accelerator accelerates your Internet access through proprietary lossless text and code compression, image compression, content caching and other network optimizations.

The amount of acceleration will vary but with Access 1 Accelerator you will notice a significantly faster experience when you visit web sites, send and receive email, and perform many other web-based activities. We have informally tested it on popular sites such as cnn, amazon.com, and sports illustrated and found it to be 5 times faster. Text-only sites were as much as 10 times faster.

The Access 1 Accelerator significantly speeds up web page access. To achieve this speed up, proprietary lossless compression is applied to text, html, xml, javascript and style sheets. Proprietary image compression is applied to gif images, jpeg images and Flash content.
Access 1 also accelerates email traffic (POP3 and SMTP)using lossless compression.
Access 1 does NOT speed up file downloads (over FTP or file sharing programs), streaming audio/video and HTTPS (secure web sites).

Access 1 Accelerator accelerates most text and graphics on web pages associated with typical web surfing. With Access 1 Accelerator you will notice a significantly faster experience when you visit web sites and send and receive your e-mail. Access 1 Accelerator will not currently accelerate file downloads such as music files, software, Windows updates, or streaming video or audio media. Also, the Access 1 Accelerator will not accelerate SSL (https) enabled websites such as online banking sites.

Yes, however, due to the wide array of configuration options of the numerous personal firewalls Access 1 can not supply you with the instructions necessary to configure your firewall. Please refer to the manufacturers documentation for instructions on creating exceptions for your personal firewall.

The accelerator software when installed and running will be represented by an icon in your system tray (lower right hand corner of the screen by your clock). The accelerator icon resembles a globe and is green and brown in color. Alternatively, you should have an entry in your programs menu called "web accelerator".

The most common cause of this issue is when the username and/or password has been entered incorrectly in the accelerator settings. Your username must be entered in the following format:


Access 1 Users enter: yourusername@access1net.net


Netbypass Users enter: yourusername@netbypass.net


You can access the accelerator settings dialog screen by left clicking on the accelerator icon and left clicking settings. Next, click the connection tab (second tab from the left). Once, you have entered your credentials correctly restart your computer and reconnect to the Internet for the new credentials to take effect.
