Dialup
- Why is it important to connect to the Internet with a local access number?
You want to use local access numbers to avoid paying long distance charges. If an access number is in your local calling area, a modem will connect at a local call rate, just as if you were dialing the number via a phone.
- How would I know for sure if an access number is local to me?
The only way to be absolutely certain that an ISP number is local to you is to contact your current local phone service provider. Give them the access number and they will tell you if that number is included in your local calling plan or not.
- Will I still be able to use my Instant Messaging program your services?
Yes. Many ISPs, such as AOL, have instant messaging programs built into them. As long as you have the AIM (AOL Instant Messanger) program installed and a user name for AIM, you will be able to use Instant messaging with any of our services.

- I have a 56K modem, why cant I connect at 56K?
In reality, analog throughput is limited to a maximum of 53.333kbps per FCC regulations. Although 53.333kbps is the maximum speed, some operating systems may incorrectly report a higher speed.
The connection speed is very dependent on the phone line quality, the hardware/software, and environmental conditions. It can fluctuate.
To make sure you connect at the maximum speed, you can verify that you have the latest update on your software programs and modem drivers (check your hardware and software vendors web sites) and unplug any other equipment using the same phone line as your modem.
You should try different access numbers in your area (using a different path thru the phone network you might get a better connection). You should try again and see if you get a better speed at a different time (this may fluctuate during the day and over time).

Spam
- How do I manage my spam settings?
You can manage your spam filter settings by clicking here.
Note: Click yes to accept the certificate.
Enter the first part of your email address for the login (the part before the "@" symbol) and your email password for the password.
- I keep getting a lot of emails with [SPAM] in the subject line. What does this mean?
In order to keep you from losing emails that might be incorrectly identified as SPAM (also referred to as a false positive) the SPAM filter will rewrite the subject line. By rewriting the subject line you can easily set up a rule in your email client to move all of these questionable messages to your junk mail folder. There is a short tutorial on configuring rules in Outlook Express on the support page.
If you elect to use our website to check your email you can log in here to set your SPAM settings (Note: Click yes to accept the security certificate). See the tutorial on the support page for details on configuring your SPAM filter settings.
